Mr. Abdelhak El Kafsi

Mr. Abdelhak El Kafsi is the Founder and managing director of Islamic Finance Consultants and has over 29 years experience in Banking with the last 17 years devoted to Islamic Finance. Mr. El Kafsi's scope of experience spans over North Africa (Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, and Sudan), the GCC, Australia, Malta, Mali, and South East Asia. His experience includes structuring project as well as corporate financings for corporate entities, Fund managers, and public companies.

Mr. El Kafsi worked for 10 years with Bank of America in Tunis, Cairo and Sydney. In 1989, he joined Arab Banking Corporation, the Arab world's largest Bank to be in charge of Global marketing. In 1992, he took charge of the Islamic Finance Unit at ABC, which he developed from a small department into the most successful Islamic wholesale bank specializing in Liquidity Management.

Among Mr. El Kafsi's accomplishments are the developments of an Islamic overnight deposit facility in addition to an asset and liability management model which are considered as a reference in the Islamic banking industry. Mr. El Kafsi has also led the first ever syndicated Istisna (project finance) facility structure which has been viewed as a pioneering viable alternative to conventional project financing.

Raimond Fontaine

Senior Consultant


Mr. Raimond Fontaine joined IFC in January 2010. He manages the Islamic liquidity management Project and several other initiatives.

Raimond’s work experience dates back to 1994. In his international career he has covered a variety of industry sectors and roles and excelled in the area of relationship management as Account Director and office management as the General Manager. Raimond’s diverse experience and skill set as well as his attention to detail brings significant value to IFC.

Prior to joining IFC, Raimond worked within the Banking and Telecommunication industry for many years as well as for a major London based agency in the Reward & Recognition sector.

Raimond graduated with a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a BA Post Graduate Degree from the Technical & Maritime Faculty of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Mohamed A. Souayah

Senior Analyst


Mr. Mohamed A. Souayah joined IFC in April 2007. He specializes in Investment analysis, Capital budgeting and Business Valuation.

In addition to providing market research and financial modeling expertise, Mohamed supports clients in their due diligence processes and capital raising activities.

Prior to joining IFC, Mohamed worked for a global research consulting firm headquartered in Boston, Mass. where he prepared market trends as well as competitive positioning and benchmarking analysis for Telecommunications operators.

Mohamed received his MBA in Finance from the Sawyer School of Management, Boston, Mass. and his BS degree in Accounting from the Institute of Higher Education in Commerce of Carthage, Tunis. He is currently pursuing the CFA designation.



Dr. Abdulbari Mishal

Senior Shari’a Consultant


Dr. Abdulbari Mishal has more than 15 years of consulting and supervisory experience in the Islamic Finance field. Dr. Mishal specializes in the development and structuring of Islamic financial products and contracts. He is also a renowned expert in the islamisation (conversion) of conventional financial institutions.
